After School Program

Fort Worth’s community centers place a high value on providing structured youth programs to keep students focused, active and engaged with their peers.

After school program. affordable fun for age 5-13

Centers offer after school programming five days a week that provides recreational, cultural and educational activities for kids between the ages of 5 and 13. The programs value education as a top priority, with center staff assisting with homework completion and tracking student grades, citizenship and STAAR results throughout the school year. In addition, students have access to computer labs and learning centers to supplement their education.

Fitness and activity are also fundamental aspects of the after school programs, as participants are encouraged to participate in a variety of sports, games and artistic pursuits in order to develop teamwork, improve social skills and build self-esteem. Nutritious snacks are provided to students every afternoon, and outside guest speakers often stop by to talk with students about ways to handle difficult situations, or discuss other opportunities and life skills.

School Break Camps

School may be out, but the learning and fun doesn’t have to stop! Camps are usually held at centers when FWISD takes the day off, and are a good way for your child to have positive experiences on the days when they are not in school. Be sure to sign up early, because camps fill up fast.

Camp hours are from 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m., and campers will need to bring a sack lunch. Camps are available at all 21 City of Fort Worth community centers. Contact your nearest center for more information, including prices and specific dates.

This program adheres to the Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department's Standards of Care.
