Becky Renfro Borbolla, owner of Renfro’s Foods Inc., assumed the Fort Worth Sister Cities chair’s position.

Other officers: Greg Jackson, Greg Jackson Law, chair-elect; Jason Brown, Doss, Knight & Associates, secretary; and Frank Tilley, financial consultant, treasurer.

New city chairs: Bandung, Indonesia, Staussa Ervin; Budapest, Hungary, Chris Shipman, GM Financial; and Reggio Emilia, Italy, Richard Roby III, Texas Amron, and Nyja Roby, eXp Realty.

New board members: Tamara Albury, David Allen, Liz Carrillo, Jeanelle Davis, LA Moncrief, Olivia Powers, Kristin Vinson Wright and Mitch Whitten.

The Bob Bolen Award for Outstanding Board Leadership was awarded to Libby Watson, who is committed to making Fort Worth a culturally-rich place to live. Watson’s pièce de résistance was a unique exchange focused on education and business, taking leaders from the University of Texas at Arlington, Best Maid Pickles and TX Whiskey to Japan to showcase their products.

The Junior League of Fort Worth was awarded the Eisenhower Award for Organizational Involvement. With a mission of promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, the Junior League was instrumental in the success of the 2019 Sundance Santa program. Through their assistance, Sister Cities was able to raise $80,000 for youth programs and scholarships.

Terri West received the Volunteer of the Year Award. West has volunteered with Sister Cities for more than 15 years, dedicating her time and energy to several of Fort Worth’s international partnerships. She has hosted students and teachers in her home and advocated for more international connections for Fort Worth, most recently one in South America. She helped recruit delegates to join a mission to Argentina and Uruguay to research possibilities that might lead to educational and economic connections for Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Sister Cities International’s 2020 annual meeting was livestreamed Sept. 10 featuring Rick Steves, public TV host and travel guide author, as well as a performance by Grammy Award-winning artist Dionne Warwick.

Fort Worth Sister Cities International works to help decrease stereotypes, racism and violence, creating a more peaceful and prosperous world.
