Learn about transportation initiatives in the North Texas region during a public meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), 616 Six Flags Drive in Arlington.

These are the scheduled presentations:

Public Transportation Funding. NCTCOG staff will present proposed transit projects funded by the Federal Transit Administration through the final award of fiscal year 2019 funds for the following programs: Urbanized Area Formula, Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities, State of Good Repair, and Bus and Bus Facilities. This input opportunity meets the federal requirement for public participation in programs of projects.

Community Schools and Transportation Program update. The goal of the program is to promote best practices and advance coordination between school districts and other governmental agencies on topics of mutual interest. Staff will discuss best practices for relieving traffic congestion around schools and present recommendations for improving school district and public transit coordination.

Clean vehicle funding opportunities. Staff will share information about funding opportunities for vehicle/equipment purchases and replacements as well as funding for parking space electrification at freight terminals.

Regional Transportation Council public comment procedures. Due to the passage of House Bill 2840 by the Texas Legislature, members of the public can now provide comments during Regional Transportation Council meetings. Staff will present a brief overview of this new public input process and next steps.
