Adopted in 2016 as part of Fort Worth’s participation in FEMA’s Community Rating System, the city’s Floodplain Management Plan provides a stakeholder-informed framework for addressing flooding issues across the city. The plan also enhances the flood hazard section of the city’s Hazard Mitigation Action Plan.

Annual stakeholder updates are part of the plan implementation process, and the plan itself is updated on a five-year schedule.

The city recently updated plan stakeholders on the progress made on a variety of action items over the last 12 months as well as flooding conditions across the city over the same period. Review the update.

The update includes information on channel inventory, development of flood risk overlays for areas outside FEMA floodplains, evaluation of impacts due to the loss of valley storage and increased impervious cover, evaluation of flood risk management regulations for flooding outside FEMA floodplains, coordination of open space opportunities, flood warning system enhancements, and education initiatives in schools.
