Meet Sir Elton John. Elton is calm in his kennel, friendly with everyone he meets and he loves attention. He can be a bit much for some dogs as he loves to play on the rough side. The animal shelter staff recommends a 'meet & greet' with your dog to ensure a good match. (ID: A42273377)

In the eyes of a pet, nothing is more important than having a family that loves you. Fort Worth shelter pets deserve that forever love.

Once again, more than 500 dogs and cats, kittens and puppies are currently in the shelter, and each of them is waiting to meet you during the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend, Sept. 13-15.

Choosing a new pet is a big decision. Choosing the right pet for you is just as important. Shelter staffers will be available all weekend for guidance — they’re experts at making perfect matches.

Adoption fees are reduced to $10 during this event. Fees include an initial medical examination, vaccinations, micro-chip and spay/neuter services. Adopters also receive a coupon book and a complimentary bag of pet food.

Check out all three adoption locations:

  • Fort Worth Animal Shelter, 4900 Martin St. (open Friday-Sunday).
  • PetSmart Adoption Center Hulen, 4800 S.W. Loop 820 (I-20 at Hulen).
  • PetSmart Adoption Center Alliance, 2901 Texas Sage Trail (I-35W at Heritage Trace).
