The book and film tell the story of a group of boys who live and go to school at a Masonic orphanage in Ft. Worth.

“12 Mighty Orphans” will be filming in Fort Worth this fall.

This true story, based on a novel by Jim Dent, follows a group of orphans who overcome the odds and become one of the toughest football teams around.

Luke Wilson will star as Coach Rusty Russell. The film will be directed by Ty Roberts, who co-wrote the script with Lane Garrison, and will be produced by Houston Hill, Brinton Bryan and Fort Worth’s Michael De Luca and Angelique De Luca.

Correction: The Masonic orphanage was located in Ft. Worth. An earlier caption mistakenly stated it was located in Arlington.
