At the Learning Garden, community members learn about effective gardening techniques while they help tend plants.

Interested in starting a community garden? Join the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) for a tour of a working community garden and learn how community gardens help feed those who are hungry.

Tours are held at the food bank’s Learning Garden, 3251 Sappington Place, one Friday every month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Social service agencies, faith-based organizations, community service groups and the general public are all welcome.

Produce grown in the garden is distributed to local agencies serving those in need. The TAFB Learning Garden showcases a wide variety of gardening techniques, materials and planting methods to inspire others to start their own gardening projects.

Following a tour, participants are invited to participate in training opportunities and take advantage of other free resources to support community gardens. Explore the seed bank to choose from a variety of seeds.

Since 2011, the community garden program has helped more than 25 social service agencies, faith-based organizations and community service groups start their own garden projects in and around Fort Worth, ensuring fresh produce for hungry neighbors.
