Summer is here, which means it’s time to get out and discover the great things happening at Fort Worth parks and community centers. This July, explore the “undiscovered” roles of local parks and recreation as Fort Worth celebrates Park and Recreation Month, A Lifetime of Discovery.

The Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association, by inviting residents to explore A Lifetime of Discovery at local parks. Playgrounds, rec centers, sports leagues and summer camps are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of parks and rec. But, parks and recreation is so much more than that.

During Park and Recreation Month, discover all the ways parks and recreation can improve quality of life:

  • Park & Recreation’s Aquatics Division is offering swimming lessons all summer for adults and children at Forest Park Pool. Each session costs $30. Registration dates, as well as times and class dates, are available online.
  • Camp Fort Worth is going on now at 18 community centers throughout Fort Worth. Participating kids between the ages of 5 and 13 spend their summer discovering new skills, creating new friendships, and staying active and engaged even while school isn’t in session. Learn more at the Camp Fort Worth webpage.
  • The Summer Recreation Catalog is available for viewing. The Fall Recreation catalog should be out by mid-August so residents can register for fall classes.

Additionally, Fort Worth community centers are hosting a variety of special events and activities throughout the rest of the summer:
