Mayor Betsy Price joins Trinity Metro Board Chair Scott Mahaffey and CEO Paul Ballard to tour the equipment maintenance facility.

When TEXRail trains roll out late this year, they will be dispatched from a new equipment maintenance facility at 3137 E. Long Ave. Officials celebrated the grand opening with tours of the facility and a TEXRail train.

“Watching this facility come together has been very gratifying,” said Paul J. Ballard, president and CEO of Trinity Metro. “The craftsmanship and quality of the equipment maintenance facility lay the groundwork for efficient TEXRail operations and maintenance.”

Located on a 27-acre site, the building spans 53,000 square feet and includes three maintenance pits, two of which are indoor. The site also includes a train washing area.

Officials said all of TEXRail’s eight train sets will be housed and maintained at the new facility. The building also has offices, a warehouse for storing parts and dispatch operations.

The 27-mile commuter rail line will extend from downtown Fort Worth into Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport’s Terminal B. TEXRail’s route will start at the T&P Station and continue to the Intermodal Transportation Center, North Side, Beach Street/Mercantile, Iron Horse and Smithfield (both in North Richland Hills), Grapevine/Main Street, DFW Airport North and DFW Airport Terminal B.
