It's time to be overwhelmed by all the beautiful dogs and cats needing homes

Even though she's 6 years old, Nana loves to play, especially with stuffed toys.

There is so much love at the Fort Worth Animal Shelter. Nearly 600 dogs and cats, kittens and puppies are waiting to meet you during the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend, May 18-20.

The focus of this adoption event is to showcase dogs that have been at the shelter for way too long. This weekend, hopefully many of them will find their forever home.

Meet Nana. Sweet, loving Nana has been in the shelter too long. She’s a very loving dog and a staff and volunteer favorite, but she’s been in the shelter since August 2017. She smiles at everyone who passes her kennel, and she’s very treat-motivated and gets excited when she gets pets and kisses. Nana also has visual scars on her back that came with living on the streets. She’s heartworm positive, but she’s been receiving treatment and it’s almost complete. She does not like cats. Nana is at the PetSmart Charities Adoption Center at Hulen and I-20.

Adoption fees are reduced to $10 during this event. Fees include an initial medical examination, rabies vaccination, city license, micro-chip and spay/neuter services.

  • PetSmart Adoption Center Hulen, 4800 S.W. Loop 820 (I-20 at Hulen).
  • PetSmart Adoption Center Alliance, 2901 Texas Sage Trail (I-35W at Heritage Trace).
