Fort Worth continues to narrow the search for its next fire chief as the interview process is reaching its final stages with a field of six candidates.

The finalists will be in Fort Worth this week for a series of events, including a tour of the city and a community meet and greet. Candidates will undergo a panel interview process and will present a case study scenario to various internal and external stakeholders.

Residents will meet the candidates at a community reception 5:30-7 p.m. April 30 at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, 505 W. Felix St. Each candidate will give a short presentation, with an informal meet and greet to follow.

“We’re excited to welcome the fire chief candidates and we encourage the community to take this opportunity to meet them,” said Mayor Betsy Price. “Fort Worth’s next Fire Chief will be only the 14th to lead this great organization over the past 125 years.”

“We look forward to working closely with the rank and file of the Fort Worth Fire Department, as well as the entire Fort Worth community, to find the Fort Worth’s next Fire Chief,” added Valerie Washington, Assistant City Manager.

  • Chicago Deputy Fire Commissioner Michael Callahan.
  • Columbus, Ohio, Fire Assistant Chief Jim Davis.
  • District of Columbia Deputy Chief John Donnelly.
  • Dallas Assistant Fire Chief Daniel Salazar.
