The Fort Worth Library system has been working on much-needed facility improvements at three branches, resulting in temporary closures or limited service.
Southwest Regional Library
More than 25,000 square feet of flooring throughout the library is being replaced March 16-May 25. The Southwest Regional Library is temporarily offering limited services, including in‐person returns and customer pickup of reserved books. In order to provide space for these pickup and drop-off services, the meeting room at Southwest Regional Library is unavailable for rental or reservation during construction. Customers do not have access to the main body of the library.
Staff will provide many programs at R.D. Evans and Worth Heights community centers. Library branches that remain full‐service during this time that are closest to Southwest Regional Library include the Wedgwood and Ridglea branches in addition to a MetroPac partner library in Benbrook.
This branch will reopen May 26.
Riverside Branch Library
The Riverside Branch Library was temporarily closed March 25-May 11. Library staff held a variety of community programs at Riverside Community Center and continued work with community partners.
Library branches that remained full‐service during this time that were closest to Riverside Branch Library included the Northside and Central branches.
This branch reopened May 12.
Diamond Hill/Jarvis Branch Library
More than 8,000 square feet of flooring throughout the library were replaced. The Diamond Hill/Jarvis branch offered limited services March 30-May 18 by accepting in‐person and book‐drop returns as well as customer pickup of reserved books. Customers did not have access to the main body of the library.
The library’s story times and other programs were held at the North Tri‐Ethnic Community Center. Patrons who liked use of the closest, full‐service library during this time were asked to visit the Northside Branch Library.
This branch reopened May 19.
Summer Worth Reading
Library customers are encouraged to use any of the other library locations open throughout Fort Worth as well as the many online resources, including downloadable music, audio books, e‐books and access to learning resources.
All three locations are expected to reopen for the Summer 2018 Worth Reading program.
