The Fort Worth Art Commission will conduct a public hearing on the draft Fort Worth Public Art Master Plan Update, developed by Barbara Goldstein and Jessica Cusick based on input from residents throughout the city.

The public hearing will be at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy St.

The update to the original 2003 Master Plan comes 15 years after the Fort Worth Public Art program’s establishment and seeks to “craft priorities and establish a collective vision for what public art can accomplish in Fort Worth in the next 15 years,” Goldstein said.

The plan will go before the City Council for approval in September.

The draft Master Plan Update is available in its entirety.

Fort Worth residents are invited to review the recommendations and participate in the public hearing or submit written comments via email or U.S. Mail (Fort Worth Public Art, Attn: Kathleen Forrest, 1300 Gendy St., Fort Worth, TX, 76107). Written comments received by 5 p.m. Aug. 14 will be reviewed by the Art Commission prior to making a final recommendation.

Fort Worth Public Art (FWPA) is a city program created to enhance the visual environment, commemorate the city’s rich cultural and ethnic diversity, integrate artwork into the development of the city’s capital infrastructure improvements, and to promote tourism and economic vitality. Managed by the Arts Council of Fort Worth with oversight of the Fort Worth Art Commission, FWPA strives for artistic excellence and meaningful community involvement.
