Vendors working with state and local governments around the country recently have been the targets of a new phishing attack.
The attack encourages vendors to send payments or payment information in addition to usual phishing email content, such as downloading malicious software or revealing personal information.
The City of Fort Worth does not contact vendors to request payment over email. Vendors should only respond to communication they initiated via email with the city.
Vendors who are unsure of whether an email is authentic or not should contact the city through a trusted number or a member of the Vendor Management team:

When an unsolicited email arrives, remember the following:
- Do not reply
- Do not open attachments
- Do not click links in the email
- Do not provide any data to websites linked in the email
- Do not send payment information
- Delete the email.
Identifying authentic emails
All vendor communications with the City of Fort Worth should be through a phone number beginning with 817-392, through the FTW_BSO_Vendor_MGT@fortworthtexas.gov email address or individual emails in the firstname.lastname@example.org format. A listing of Purchasing staff and phone numbers is available on the city website, but keep in mind that phone numbers and email addresses can be spoofed – or made to look like they are coming from a trusted source.
Use the Vendor Management team contacts to update any vendor records.
