Company to take over construction at new Golden Triangle Library

A new contractor will complete construction of the Golden Triangle Branch Library.

On Oct. 22, 2019, the Fort Worth City Council terminated the contract with Denco CS Corp., which was the original construction company hired to build the library. Mark IV, which has an existing job-order contract with the City, is charged with completing the work. Construction should continue in about a month, after Mark IV does a thorough site evaluation. The move comes after Denco fell far behind schedule.

The City is committed to opening a high-quality facility at the site, located at 4264 Golden Triangle Blvd., in 2020.

In other news, JeTaun Colbert was hired to manage the Golden Triangle Branch Library. She was previously the manager of the Washington Park Branch of the Milwaukee Public Library. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Howard University, and a Master of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University.

Details about the Branch

• $9,125,000 project is part of the 2014 bond program
• 15,000-square-foot facility located at 4264 Golden Triangle
• Collection of more than 50,000 books, DVDs, and CDs
• Dedicated area for children’s activities and story times
• Public computers, laptops, and WiFi
• Makerspace offering science and technology classes, 3D printers, laser cutter, and audio/video equipment
• One-stop customer service desk, multiple self-service stations, and automated materials sorting
• Meeting room that seats 100 people and can be subdivided
• Public artwork designed by local artist Sara Lovas

There will also be a Municipal Court Satellite Office included in the building. It will offer:

• Video walk-in court
• Payment processing
• Document and court filings

• June 25: The selected name for the library was announced.
• Project is heading to the bidding phase for a construction company.

Details about the Branch

• Will be located in Council District 8 at 3851 East Lancaster Ave.
• Will feature services, programs, books, movies and music that meet the needs of children, teenagers and their families.
• Architects, KAI Texas, have been selected for the project.
• Joe O’Connell has been selected to provide the public art in the space.

• Approved in the 2018 bond.
• Will be located in Council District 6 at the corner of McCart and Risinger
