Number of jobs tied to an economic development agreement

See the analysis section for more information.

Why is this important?

Attracting businesses and retaining existing companies in Fort Worth can sometimes involve the city’s decision to provide a certain level of local tax incentives, either through Chapter 380 or 312 of the Texas Tax Code. A business entering into a development agreement must commit to adding a certain number of jobs which ensures that they are dedicated to enhancing the overall economic climate of the city, and that the city’s use of incentive programs is productive and well-managed.

Performance Analysis

The actual number of jobs created consistently surpassed the number of jobs committed, which indicates that the use of incentives has positively impacted employment opportunities for the city.
